I am a bagpiper who has been lucky enough to perform at a wide range of events across the globe, as well as teaching my 36 current students. I am proud to be the 10th piper to hold the position of personal bagpiper for HM The Queen since 1843. One of the happiest occasions was playing at the wedding of HRH Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex in Windsor Castle. Another highlight was when myself and the Queen's Page Ray Wheaton were made Knights of the order of Independence by the then King of Jordan.
I now offer my services, performing at a number of events such as weddings, corporate events, concerts, celebrations and funerals to add tradition and ceremony. Bagpipes are traditionally used to mark the various stages of your big day. My performance will add considerable pomp and ceremony to proceedings, both visually and audibly. I also enjoy passing on my knowledge gained from my experiences by teaching my students everything I know.
"Jim played my soon to be wife into her wedding at the oldest church in Wales. He was fantastic and played everything we wanted. He also has great stories from his time as the Queens piper. We would recommend him to anyone."
"All of my life, I had wanted a wedding with a strong Scottish Theme. I can honestly say it was the performance from Jim Motherwell that really put it up there."
"Pipe Major Motherwell planned the timings of my choice - Glencoe - to the second and friends and family still speak about the drama of the candlelit, bagpipe procession to the altar. He also played my new husband and I out of church into the December night."
